Ecology Mapping

Funding Ecology Mapping

We have our unique approach to funder research. Our experience has taught us two important lessons:

  1. Each cause will have its own unique set of funders, way beyond the obvious donors for each sector. It’s important to understand the networks that lead to the recruitment of these donors. Also, It’s crucial to see how the donors are connected to each other.

  2. Many funders don’t invite unsolicited applications and when they do, this route is often the least successful one. You need to realise the connections you might have with potential donors - through your existing funders, through your board, staff and volunteers, through the partner organisations you work with.

Therefore, our Funding Ecology Maps diagrammatically portray the connections between your organisation, your current funders and potential ones. We investigate these inter-connections, so that we can realistically develop a prospect list for you and provide insights how you can engage the donors. We can research into corporations, foundations and government funders. We will develop a prospect map and a list for you, as well as produce complex ‘deep dives’ into key funders.

How do we start?

If your world is not too complex we would like to teach you how to do this mapping yourselves!

Let us know if you would be interested in attending a training session, we would seek to cover:

  • Framing the research

  • Purpose, how to use the maps

  • Mapping Templates

  • Research Toolkit to gather info

  • Transferring Data

  • Using the Basic Editor - orientation

  • How to draw in KUMU

If your ecosystem is more complex we are able to do the research and create a map on your behalf!

We provide multiple packages at different price ranges for both public and private mapping services, and also the option to keep these maps updated as the world around us changes.

We are able to leverage our master database of over 7000 Funding organisations and personnel bios to weigh against any new research that comes up.

The Choice is yours!

Here is a link to a presentation from our recent webinar. You are able to go through the slides, and try out using some of the interactive features of the maps! The maps are best viewed on desktop or laptop computer. If you need any help, feel free to contact us to request our QuickStart guide to the Ecology Mapping.

You can view the recording of the free webinar on 28th November 2023, explaining the value of these maps here
