Martha Muiruri
Martha Muiruri, has over 10 years’ experience in the development sector, steering local partnerships, donor relations, fundraising events and program management from grass root, national level and international organizations, while transforming lives of the most marginalized. She has assumed different positions at International Consultancy Marketplace (ICM), Aga Khan Foundation (East Africa), Kenya Children’s Homes and Bridge of Hope Rehabilitation Centre.
Currently, Martha is an Institutional Strengthening Coach and Mentor with Yetu Initiatives – a Global Alliance Development Program of the Aga Khan Foundation and USAID. Her role entails building the capacity of civil society-led umbrella, county-wide organizations across Kenya. She was the Project Coordinator of this Program prior to September 2019, championing local resource mobilization by working with select civil society organizations to build their assets, capacity and trust while brokering relations with the private sector. The team supported 42 organizations to raise a total of US$ 615,913 in cash and in- kind locally within one year.
During her tenure as a Resource Mobilization and Institutional Capacity Strengthening Consultant with International Consultancy Marketplace (ICM), she offered transformative consultant services to a number of organizations in the development sector. Prior to this, Martha was the head of Resource Mobilization at the Kenya Children’s Homes (also known as Thomas Barnardo House) where she spearheaded a mix of approaches, which raised 60% of the annual budget from local resources mobilization.
Martha has a Master of Psychology Degree in Community Psychology, Bachelor of Arts Degree (Sociology & Psychology), Diploma in Social Work and Social Development. She is also a Certificated Counseling Psychologist.
