Mike Muchilwa
Mike Naholi Muchilwa is a Fundraising Strategist with extensive experience in Resource Mobilization, Strategic and Business Planning, Social Enterprises, Governance and Organisation Development.
Mike is a founder and was the Chair of the Kenya Association of Fundraising Professionals for 16 years until early 2020. He is one of Africa’s leading Resource Mobilization Consultants. Mike has over 29 years’ experience in resource mobilization and has written proposals and project concept notes for clients. He has also carried out research, feasibility studies, developed resource mobilization strategies, endowment strategies and business plans, facilitated training programs, trained boards, senior management, fundraising staff, and beneficiaries across a wide spectrum of organizations. He has also run organizations, been on the board of others where he has had to mobilize resources. Mike has worked with organizations such as Agriprofocus, SERRV, the World Fair Trade Organisation, KICK and Panafcon Consultants.
Mike holds a degree in economics from the University of Nairobi. He has written five books titled “The Fundraiser- The Art of Organizing Winning Special Events”; “The Fundraising Campaign: Organizing Successful Fundraising Campaigns”; “Resource Mobilization Strategy: Developing Strategies that Work”; “The Job of Getting a Job” and “The Side Hustle- Running a Business Besides Your Job”. He contributed to an award-winning Philanthropy book --Global Fundraising -- How the world is changing the rules of philanthropy” with other global consultants. He also contributed to another award-winning book, Diversity and Philanthropy: Expanding the Circle of Giving. Mike contributed to a book on Best Global NGO Governance Practices. He is a member of the GS Committee of the World Fair Trade Organisation as well as a Board Member of Wetlands International East Africa and National Organisation of Peer Educators.
